Home in Rome!

We had our first experience on the crazy Roman roads and after driving in reverse down a one lane road with cars inches away on either side, we got dropped off at our apartment in Trastevere, a neighborhood in Rome right by the Tiber River described as having, "quaint cobblestone streets filled with restaurants and bars with an enduring vibrant energy." We live in the Gianicolo Residence, which is a brand new building on Via della Penitenza about a 10 minute walk from school. It's made up of apartments for John Cabot students, and I live in an apartment with 8 girls from Notre Dame. We have four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a living room that looks out on the courtyard, and a kitchen (that we're working on using...).. we love it! They even left us gift baskets when we arrived full of Italian foods that we love now, especially ACE (orange, carrot, and lemon juice)... sounds weird but we live on it. We had to go to the Post Office to get our Permesso di Soggiorno (permit to stay) that day, so we got to see the Notre Dame Architecture building in Rome, Campo dei Fiori (an outdoor marketplace), and I tried my first gelato!
